It has the correct ID, as checked against in the VRO content.xml. It's simply designed to work with the mod that does. Yes, VRO makes the game a bit harder (turret's are no longer useless, better Missiles, always pack flares!).

Why the hell didn't I install this a year ago! It could be over the course of several expansions. Have nearly 300 hours in a stock save (well 3.0beta) just installed it with the new DLC. It was worth it wayyyy worth it.I'd already wiped out the expeditionary fleet and I couldn't figure out if there were any more to the story line. It adds more variety(duh) to the weapons and removes most of the mk1, and mk2 weapons, only ones that remain are the missile launchers. Be the first to share what you think! But when modding be warned if your PC is average powerwise some mods add in a ton more ships and fleets so you could find your FPS tanking, so be wise when adding in mods that add to ship/fleet count. I keep toying with the idea of using VRO (It looks very cool and it looks like it makes for a more interesting game) but I'm a bit apprehensive as X4 is such a complicated game, I'm not sure I want to modify it from Vanilla before I have a more comprehensive grasp of how the game works.

u/Shuulo has done a hell of a job bringing X4 to a much better play state. I've not spent enough time to form an opinion on the mod yet, but I will say if I go back to vanilla, I'll be trying to find a way to speed up the ships in the same way and remove the highways. I still know where everything is in a general sense, but the game feels much bigger (and better) because of it. This is done by changing the parameters of every ship, weapon, missile, engine, shield as well as adding numerous new weapons, missiles and even few ships.
